Victoria Posh Beckham's New Audrey Hepburn Look

by: John Mcloughlin

Victoria Beckham has taken a leaf out of Audrey Hepburn's classic look of the Breakfast at Tiffany's film. Although Posh has not copied a particular look of Hepburn's, it still has that feel, and it looks great.

Victoria Beckham has taken a leaf out of Audrey Hepburn's classic look of the Breakfast at Tiffany's film. Although Posh has not copied a particular look of Hepburn's, it still has that feel, and it looks great.

The haircut stems from a very short layered haircut that is graduated into the neck line of the cut.

To achieve this look, cut your outline of the haircut first, this will help you, not only with the overall shape, but it will help you to take enough weight out of the haircut to give the the outline a softness that is required to give the same feel as the original classic shape.

Once that you have cut the outline it is now important to remove the bulk or weight within the cut, take particular notice of the crown area and leave enough weight, or length in this area to give the haircut height.

The second part of this haircut, after cutting the outline, is to put an overall shape to the haircut. Working from the crown area, keep the length in the crown to around 8 cm or inch, then work towards the outline, taking more length as you get to the outline, leave this length to around 4 cm or 1 1/2 inch.

To help you visualise the haircut, think of the shape of a house hold light bulb, this will give you an understanding of the shape at the back of the head.

Just a note, when you are layering the haircut, leave the fringe area layers longer on your layers to help give a longer fringe. Although Posh's fringe is quite short, you may want the option to leave this longer.

Once the second part of the haircut is complete, the layering, you can now move on to the texturing of the haircut, this is where you can make the hairstyle personal to different clients, most clients will want Posh's new haircut but with modification for their own personal needs.

The way to texture the haircut can be varied to suit the different hair types and texture of individuals.

"Chipping in", were the scissors are held vertical and small pieces are cut as you go along your layer, will be successful, as well as pointing and slicing techniques.

Once the haircut has been completed, apply product on while the hair is still wet and only partially dry, to give am impish feel to the new look you have created.

Enjoy your hairdressing.
